Shikhar Gupta is a Senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), originally from Palatine, IL. Passionate about biology and chemistry, Shikhar currently conducts retinal neurology research at Northwestern University and drug discovery research at IMSA. In the past, he has performed water quality research in Grayslake, IL, and has discovered a biological pathway in diabetic neuropathy patients through different research at Northwestern. As the Senior representative on Student Council and as the Captain of the Congressional Debate Team, he is also interested in researching public policy, specifically as it relates to student opportunity. Recognizing issues with student enrichment services and in an effort to apply his learning to his society, Shikhar founded Emerson Study Group (ESG), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing free and quality student services in order to inspire a generation of proactive learners. Aside from his academic and volunteering efforts, he is an active tennis player, Netlfix watcher, and soccer fan.
