Sarah O'Leary-Driscoll

As a member of the biology faculty @ IMSA, I teach the introductory sophomore biology course as well as the Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) elective and the senior seminar course. MCB is an advanced course with college level curriculum, and which uses cell cycle regulation and Cancer biology as a contextual focus. The senior seminar is similar to a graduate seminar in which students present and discuss scientific literature. The topic rotates from year to year, and I have taught sections on both Stem Cell Biology and Bioinformatics.

In the past, I have been involved in IMSA's bridge program, EXCEL, as well as other student support initiatives.

I am regularly an advisor for groups of independent study students, and this semester I'm working with two groups, one focusing on Epigenetics and the other on the relationship between nutrition and Cancer.

I also facilitate the biology club, and am a sponsor of the SPARK group, which promotes awareness and support for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases.

I'm interested in how new technologies and technological applications can improve teaching and learning, and am currently pursuing ways that we can share the types of inquiry activities, etc, that we do @ IMSA with teachers around the state.
